COFBOJ-DX Syrup

Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide and Chlorpheniramine Maleate Syrup

Description

A dry cough means it’s tickly and doesn’t produce any phlegm (thick mucus). Because there is not mucus blocking the lungs or airways hence nothing comes out when you cough. This lack of mucus makes it an unproductive cough. Cough suppressants (antitussives) quiet your cough by blocking your cough reflex. This helps in dry coughs that are painful or that keep you up at night. First generation antihistamines like chlorpheniramine are often used alone or in combination in the management of nonspecific cough.

Cofboj DX Syrup is a combination of Dextromethorphan and Chlorpheniramine Maleate is used for effective treatment of dry cough due to allergy. This product is intended to be used for relief of cough and upper respiratory symptoms, including nasal congestion associated with allergy or the common cold.

Mode of action

Dextromethorphan suppresses the cough reflex by a direct action on the cough center in the medulla of the brain. Dextromethorphan shows high affinity binding to several regions of the brain, including the medullary cough center.

Chlorpheniramine competes with histamine for the normal H1-receptor sites on effector cells of the gastrointestinal tract, blood vessels and respiratory tract.
