Introduction

Arthritis means inflammation or swelling of one or more joints. It describes more than 100 conditions that affect the joints, tissues around the joint, and other connective tissues. Specific symptoms vary depending on the type of arthritis but usually include joint pain and stiffness. Symptoms of arthritis include pain, stiffness, swelling, redness, and a decreased range of motion. The two most common forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which are more commonly found in women than in men. To treat inflammation, Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) are the preferred drug of choice. But NSAIDs cause severe side effects like gastric mucosal damage; hence it has been always better to look out for the safer option that doesn’t cause mucosal damage.

Key benefits

Glucosamine sulfate potassium chloride

Glucosamine sulfate potassium chloride is a precursor for glycosaminoglycans, and glycosaminoglycans are a major component of joint cartilage. Its use as a therapy for osteoarthritis appears safe. It shows significant improvement in arthritis-affected joints. Glucosamine sulfate potassium chloride is not only responsible for stimulating the manufacture of substances necessary for proper joint function, but it is also responsible for stimulating joint repair.

Chondroitin Sulfate

Chondroitin sulfate is used to treat osteoarthritis and is also approved and regulated as a symptomatic slow-acting drug for this disease (SYSADOA) in Europe and some other countries. It is more effective together with glucosamine.

Methyl Sulfonyl Methane (MSM)

MSM is used in combination with glucosamine and/or chondroitin for helping to treat or prevent osteoarthritis. Methyl sulfonyl methane in osteoarthritis knee pain relief reported significant improvement in pain outcomes.

Boswellia Serrata

Boswellia Serratais an effective anti-inflammatory, it can be an effective painkiller and may prevent the loss of cartilage and act as an alternative to NSAIDs. It also reduces joint swelling in rheumatoid arthritis. Boswellia Serrata selectively inhibits a unique pathway which does not cause mucosal damage, unlike NSAIDs. It is traditionally used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine as an antiarthritic, astringent, stimulant, expectorant, and antiseptic.

Rose Hip Extract

Rosehip extract contains a particular type of galactolipid with a specific anti-inflammatory action. It has demonstrated antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity as well as clinical benefits in conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. Its anti-inflammatory actions are without ulcer genic effects and alter coagulation cascade or fibrinolysis, unlike NSAIDs.

Curcumin

Curcumin, also known as diferuloylmethane, is a photochemical found in the spice turmeric. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and helps prevent the development of a variety of conditions related to oxidative, free-radical damage and inflammatory reactions.

Collagen Peptide type II

Collagen type II is a protein that is part of the cartilage, bone and other types of connective tissues in humans. Collagen type II might work by causing the body to produce chemicals that fight pain and swelling. Type II collagen is what gives cartilage its tensile strength and elasticity, thereby enabling it to support the joints. It helps in the binding process with the help of fibronectin and other collagens.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that fights molecules that trigger joint inflammation, Vitamin C serves a role as a cofactor in collagen synthesis, the main protein in joint tissue and bone.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is also used to treat arthritis, called viscosupplementation. It is believed to supplement the viscosity of the synovial fluid thereby lubricating the joint, cushioning the joint, and producing an analgesic effect.
