Diclofenac Sodium, Methyl Salicylate, Linseed Oil and Menthol Gel

Introduction

D-Friend Gel is a combination of Diclofenac, Methyl salicylate, Linseed oil and Menthol for the effective management of pain and swelling. Diclofenac is the key ingredient for decreasing swelling and redness. D-Friend Gel is a warming non-staining, quick relief gel indicated in aches and pains of joints and muscles associated with arthritis, backaches, rheumatism, rheumatic pain, and bruises.

Key benefits

Diclofenac inhibits the enzyme, COX, an early component of the arachidonic acid cascade, resulting in the reduced formation of prostaglandins, thromboxane’s and prostacyclin. 

Methyl salicylate is used topically as a counter-irritant. Upon application, it is absorbed through the skin and is applied for the relief of pain in rheumatic conditions and painful muscles or joints.

Linseed oil has anti-inflammatory properties thus helping in reducing inflammation

Menthol also acts as a penetration enhancer, increasing the penetration of drugs when applied to the skin, to give a faster onset of action. Salicylates inhibit cyclooxygenase, thereby reducing the formation of prostaglandins, and causing platelet dysfunction. 

Directions for use

Gently rub a small quantity of the gel on the intact skin, on or around the painful/swollen area, till the gel disappears. The quantity however would vary depending on the size of the affected area. Do not cover the applied areas with a bandage, etc. Apply 3-4 times a day or as directed by your doctor.

Side effects

Burning, redness, irritation and itching are the common side effects of Linseed Oil, Diclofenac Sodium, Methyl Salicylate, Menthol and Benzyl Alcohol Gel which are occurred at the beginning of the use of this gel. Once the skin is adapted to it, all negative symptoms disappear. Inform the doctor if the patient faces any of the symptoms for a long time.

Storage and safety information 

  • Store in a cool and dry place and away from sunlight.
  • Do not apply the gel on cuts, open wounds or diseased skin areas.
  • Be careful not to apply the gel on or near the eyes, nose, mouth, genital or anal areas.
  • If the gel does come in contact with any of these areas, rinse with plenty of clean water.
  • Obtain your doctor’s consent before using the gel in case you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
